Industrial Fiber Optics was the first company to recognize the benefits, and develop a product line, of diode lasers for educational use. Today, we offer five models of lab-sized (semiconductor) diode lasers and one hand held model with rechargeable batteries. We produce two models in VL series of diode lasers which are ideal for conducting optical voice/audio and NTSC video data transmission experiments. This laser is also excellent for conducting general purpose optical experiments. (We do not recommend diode lasers for high quality interferometric experimentation or holography.)

Our diode lasers are unequaled to others in the market by their many features such as high quality laser beam, great packaging, excellent operators manual and long warranty.

The IF VL08 635 Video Lasers produces a highly visible and well collimated beam of 635 nm red laser light with an optical power for a CDRH Class II rating. Electrical connections are industry standard RCA-type jacks for

Laser includes 110 VAC to 14 VDC power adapter and full-color operator's manual with common procedures and safety information.

Features:

  • Semiconductor diode laser for long dependable life
  • Linear polarized light beam
  • Glass collimating optics for superior optical beam quality
  • All solid-state electronic design
  • Internal overdrive protection on inputs
  • Analog and digital modulation capable gain on analog input
  • Fool-proof mechanical beam stop
  • Impact-resistant, transparent, acrylic case
  • Threaded mounts for holding lenses, filters and diffraction gratings
  • Tripod mount – 1/4 - 20 thread
  • Rubber feet on chassis bottom for adhesion on slick lab surfaces
  • Tamper-resistant screws for safety
  • Labeling and safety requirements compliant with U.S. CDRH regulations
  • 110- and 220-VAC electrical voltage options
  • 4-year warranty

Suitable for experiments such as:

  • Optical NTSC data transmission demonstrations
  • Viewing refraction in optical materials
  • Demonstrating angle of incidence and reflection with mirrored surfaces
  • Tyndall's light-guiding-in-water experiments
  • NTSC video transmission
  • Laser leveling experiments
  • Light shows
  • Bar code scanning
  • Particle counting
  • Polarization
  • Scattering of light by small suspended particles
  • Critical angle determination in materials
  • Convergence and divergence in optical lenses

See Operators Manual for details on specifications, electrical jacks/plugs and set-up instructions. NTSC video is the signal input/output at "RCA-type" electrical jacks on audio visual equipment.
